Eight Capital Region BOCES graduates are among 10 apprentices who recently signed into high-tech job training by NY Creates and Micron Technology Inc.
The apprentices were members of the 2026 and 2025 graduating classes at the Career and Technical Education (CTE) where they completed programs as diverse Plumbing, Network Technology and Cosmetology.
During a Sept. 11 event on the NY Creates campus in Albany, the eight BOCES alumni were among 10 apprentices to officially sign on for the hands-on, advanced research and development training and technical career pathways in the semiconductor industry.
Those graduates include:
- Hayden Hyslop, a Class of 2025 Culinary Arts and Hospitality Technology graduate from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk
- Spencer Tracy, a Class of 2025 Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) graduate from Mohonasen
- Wukianos Abbatiello, a Class of 2026 Plumbing Technology graduate from Niskayuna
- Nathanial Chotkowski, a Class of 2026 Plumbing Technology graduate from Niskayuna
- Connor Jacques, a Class of 2026 Network Technology graduate from Bethlehem
- Xavion Sutton, a Class of 2026 New Visions: Emerging Technologies graduate from Niskayuna
- Adela Uveges, a Class of 2026 Cosmetology graduate from Bethlehem
- Quashon Williams, a Class of 2026 Plumbing Technology graduate from Schenectady
While not all of the BOCES graduates prepared at CTE for such high-tech careers, they all were immersed in work-place skills, including time management, communication and team work, that span the galaxy of careers.
“I am always so grateful for the training and opportunities offered [to me] at Capital Region BOCES,” Tracy said. The only reason I am here is because NY Creates came into BOCES and I was able to make that connection.”
Capital Region BOCES works with more than 500 business, government, union and education partners—like NY Creates and Micron—to help fuel the regional and state economies. Through these partnerships, students are able to launch careers directly out of high school or land jobs that will help them pay for future educational opportunities.
