First Cohort of Certified Production Technician Students Recognized

Local education and business officials recently joined at the Center for Advanced Technology at Mohonasen for a celebration of the first cohort of students to complete Certified Production Technician training.

The Certified Production Technician program is designed to “skill-up” incumbent workers who are looking to advance their careers and enhance the education of an unemployed or underemployed person who possesses some manufacturing experience.

The program was launched by SUNY Schenectady in partnership with the Center for Economic Growth (CEG), Capital Region BOCES, and The Business Council of New York State through the KeyBank Foundation’s award of a $250,000, two-year grant to the Center for Economic Growth.

“Capital Region BOCES is proud to partner with our colleagues in higher education, workforce development and business and industry to bring this program to our region,” said Senior Executive Officer Joseph P. Dragone, Ph.D. “Working together, we continue to strengthen the workforce pipeline for our many employers in the manufacturing sector.”
