Linda Stapleton, administrative aide with our Educational Support Services division, is the recipient of our commitment award for improvement.

The School Library Service at Capital Region BOCES recently launched an entirely new consortium that includes School Library Systems across the state, and Linda has made this work possible.

In addition to managing all of her regular duties, Linda assisted with the request for proposal (RFP) process, communicated multiple times with over 30 vendors regarding contracts and Ed Law 2-d compliance, participated in many work sessions to review the status of these contracts and vendors, all while navigating an entirely new board document process.

Improving service and access to resources

Linda has improved communication with vendors by preparing them for the new process, and also through offering suggestions to improve our own internal processes. Linda carries out this work to improve services and accessibility to library resources for both our component districts, as well as school districts across the state. Additionally, Linda has gone above and beyond in learning the new system, and learning how to make the process work better through stronger and more clear communication with vendors.

“Above all, Linda accomplishes this with a positive attitude, adapting to changes and setbacks with a growth mindset and a smile,” said Library & Arts Program Manager Annie Gersztoff.

The Commitment Awards were established to recognize employees who embody each commitment to a significant degree, and is one part of a three-tiered recognition program to build a culture of gratitude through acknowledgment and appreciation. Our Commitments — SERVICE, VALUE, EXCELLENCE, IMPROVEMENT, LEADERSHIP — embody what we do and who we are.
