School Board Recognition Week at Capital Region BOCES

The New York State School Boards Association recognizes Oct. 16-20 as School Board Recognition Week. This week, we’re happy to celebrate the dedicated members of our Board of Education at Capital Region BOCES. These individuals are true volunteers, elected by members of the boards of education from our component school districts to serve for three-year terms.

“Our school board members play a vital role in shaping the future of our educational community. We are grateful for their dedication, vision and commitment to our students and schools,” said Lauren J. Gemmill, Capital Region BOCES District Superintendent.

The duties and responsibilities of our Board of Education are wide-ranging and include creating a shared vision for the future of education in our region, developing a budget that supports the success of our students and programs and establishing policies and creating a culture that makes Capital Region BOCES a great place to learn and work.

The commitment of our Board members, past and present, to our organization is inspiring, and we extend our gratitude to each of them.
