Jason Stern receives June 2026 Commitment Award

Jason Stern has been recognized as the recipient of the June 2026 Commitment Award for his exceptional dedication, technical expertise and unwavering support of colleagues and initiatives across Capital Region BOCES.

Throughout his work on the rollout of ParentSquare, Jason played a critical role in helping multiple systems work together seamlessly. The project required extensive coordination among Information Technology, Human Resources, the Business Office and several NERIC departments. To support the implementation, Jason completed complex manual coding across four different systems, creating connections that allowed them to communicate effectively and support the organization’s goals.

Two men are talking to each other. The one on the right is gesturing, the one on the left is holding an awardDespite numerous challenges, changes and unexpected obstacles throughout the project, Jason consistently approached every request with professionalism, patience and a solutions-based mindset. Rather than focusing on barriers, he worked to find answers. Don Seguin, Managing Program Coordinator, Network Services, noted that regardless of the complexity of the challenge, Jason’s response was always the same: “let’s figure out how to do this.”

Jason is known not only for technical knowledge but also for his unique ability to bridge the gap between organizational goals and technical execution. He listens carefully, asks thoughtful questions and helps teams clarify objectives before developing practical solutions. His ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, accessible ways enables colleagues to better understand systems, processes and possibilities, fostering collaboration and confidence throughout any project.

Two people are standing next to each other. One is holding an award, both are looking at itIn her nomination, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction Karen Swain wrote, “Jason provides a profound sense of confidence to colleagues across the organization. Jason Stern is not simply a colleague who does his job well, he is a force multiplier for every team and initiative he touches. He is an asset and Capital Region BOCES is a stronger, more capable organization because of Jason’s contributions.”
