Adults interested in getting their foot in the door of the healthcare industry need to look no further than Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Center and its Nurse Assistant Program/Home Health Aide program.
With a 22% projected job growth between now and 2033 for home health care aides and 4% forecasted growth for nurse assistants, the careers offer great prospects for those looking for work in the industry.
The Nurse Assisting (NA)/Home Health Aide (HHA) program at the Capital Region BOCES Health Careers Center, is a great starting place for individuals who would like to work as a supportive caregiver in a health care setting or pursue further education in practical nursing or other health-related disciplines.
Students learn total patient care in both the classroom and through off-campus, supervised clinical experiences. Students prepare for the state-approved Home Health Aide examination, as well as the New York State Certified Nurse Aide examination. Certification qualifies them to work in nursing home, home, and assisted-living settings.
Classes start Sept. 9 on the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education Center – Albany Campus, located at 925B Watervliet-Shaker Road in Albany (Colonie).
Past graduates praised the program.
“I chose BOCES to further my education. I have worked in health care for three years and I wanted to advance myself. It was a very good experience,” said Beth Longale, a Colonie resident who graduates from the CAN program in 2023.
