Job Description:

The work involves responsibility for removing solid waster from municipal streets. The incumbent will work as part of a crew assigned to a collection vehicle on a scheduled route and picks up garbage, trash and recyclables. Removes garbage, trash, and recyclables as part of a sanitation crew assigned to a collection vehicle Removes dead animals and other debris from municipal streets and sidewalks as required Determines whether garbage, trash or recyclables are within acceptable limits for collection Notifies Sanitation Crew Supervisor of problems encountered in the performance of the work such as materials unacceptable for collection Lubricates compacting mechanisms on collection vehicles and reports mechanical problems to the Sanitation Crew Supervisor May lead work activities of assigned crew to collection vehicle May perform other unskilled public work related work such as snow removal
