Our quarterly reports offer an at-a-glance look at work underway through the lens of our Commitments of Service, Value, Excellence, Improvement and Leadership. We share these reports internally, as well as eternally with our stakeholders and partners.

October 2023

Service

  • 900+ middle and high school students earn essential course credits at our two summer school sites.
  • 40+ districts supported by our occupational health and safety team, ensuring a safe start to school.
  • 78 k-12 students began learning remotely in the third year of our Cooperative Virtual Learning Academy.
  • 600+ CTE students explore careers at the National Grid Day of Service event.

Value

  • Nearly 200 special education students learn in-person with 150 faculty/staff in our summer extended school year program.
  • 1,300+ area students begin learning for in-demand careers in the skilled trades in our Career & Technical Education programs.
  • 20 area superintendents learn at NERIC summer retreat on such timely topics as cybersecurity, AI, virtual learning and more.
  • 20 area students from underserved communities dive into hands-on science at our annual STEM Camp.

Excellence 

  • 130 adult practical nursing graduates move on to health-related careers and further education.
  • Teacher Lynn Palmateer recognized for having a positive impact on our learners and staff and going the “Extra Mile.”
  • 100 adult learners earn High School Equivalency, English as a Second Language and career and technical education credentials.
  • Each adult in our Personal Care Aide/Home Health Aide/Nurse Assistant program–100%!–pass their needed certification exams.

Improvement 

  • Upgrades begin to the Career & Technical Education Center – Schoharie Campus for new programming and state of the art learning.
  • New adult education center in Albany’s South End expands skills-based training and career opportunities for learners.
  • Educators complete 250 combined hours of professional development through our BOCES this quarter for a successful reopening of school.
  • $150,000 grant secured to help fund teacher residency program in support of K-12 English language learners and refugee students.

Leadership

  • 20 area superintendents learn at NERIC summer retreat on such timely topics as cybersecurity, AI and virtual learning.
  • Ground-breaking with area partners on Albany’s first solar array, offering new “green” learning for students.
  • Capital Region BOCES named 2023 Nonprofit of the Year by the Albany Business Review.
  • Career & Tech division honored by NYSSBA as Champion of Change for its Women in the Trades initiative.
