Network & Systems Technician (Technology Services) (NY HELPS)

What you will do:

As the Network & Systems Technician focused on supporting Technology Services, you will be part of a team that strives to ensure that all network services are delivered effectively and efficiently to our subscribing school districts. In your role, you can expect the following

  • Your day will be busy maintaining district server and storage infrastructure & virtualization platforms, most of which are Microsoft Hyper-V clusters. This includes managing upgrades and monthly patching as well as efficiently troubleshooting outages as required.
  • You’ll use various IT management platforms to monitor supported nodes to respond to alerts in a timely manner. As well as back-up and replication tools to provide both on premises and off site backups for subscribing districts.
  • Every interaction is a unique challenge, which includes technical support, maintenance and troubleshooting of a district’s technology environment, including M365 & Google Workspace administration, cloud to cloud backups, total email protection services and server migrations.
  • You will serve as a technical resource to our Cooperative Technology Services teams located at various school districts.
  • You will use your technical aptitude, training & communication techniques, and problem-solving skills to help others by providing support that keep our organization and our client school districts up and running.

What you bring to our team:

College Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems related field with at least 1-2 year of experience supporting the installation and maintenance of computer systems and networks. High School Diploma and at least 3 years of applicable experience will be considered.

  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, web-conferencing and in-person
  • Any experience working in school district operations ideal but not required
  • Passion to help others, great customer service skills and a personal drive for continuous learning and a desire to develop your skills
