BOCES welcomes Caitlin Magil as new director of special education

Magil succeeds Caralee Kardash, the division’s previous director. Magil was appointed as the new Special Education Director at the August 18 board of education meeting. 

Magil has more than a decade of experience in serving special education students and will supervise and administer all aspects of BOCES Special Education programs and services. She comes to BOCES from the Scotia Glenville Central School District, where she served as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services. Formerly employed by the Albany City School District, Magil served as the school psychologist for several years and then as the Assistant Director of Special Education for five years. She also served as Chairperson of Special Education (CSE) for the Saratoga Springs School District for three years. 

Magil holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Calvin College, Michigan, a Master of Science in School Psychology from The College of Saint Rose, a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration, and is on track to complete her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Russell Sage College in December 2026.
