Representatives of BBL Construction Services presented the Capital Region BOCES Board of Education with a $25,000 donation during the board’s Aug. 18 meeting.
The donation is in support of career and technical education and represents BBL’s efforts in leading the first annual Don Led Duke Careers in Construction Sporting Clays Event. The event is held annually in recognition of the firm’s founder, Don Led Duke. Proceeds of the event support students pursuing careers in the skilled trades who attend Capital Region BOCES and Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES.
“Don’s passion was always about the people. That passion lives on today and hopefully inspires students who want a great career in the construction industry,” said Jon deForest, President, BBL Construction Services
Held at the Guan Ho Ha Fish and Game Club, the event drew over 120 sportsmen and women and over 25 business and industry partners from across the Capital Region in support of tomorrow’s workforce.
Joe Dragone, Director of Special Programs & Strategic Partnerships, Capital Region BOCES, praised BBL as regional leaders in supporting BOCES’ mission of educating and building the workforce of today and tomorrow.
“BBL is a regional leader in advancing the goals of BOCES and supporting our students in building great careers. This donation is another example of BBL’s commitment to building a skilled workforce.” Dragone said.
