Instructional coach takes helm as assistant principal at Maywood Academy

Hired in 2022, Bronner has provided mentorship to special education teachers within the Capital Region BOCES network,  helping  to improve classroom learning and instruction. Now, she will work alongside Principal Gabriele Barbato to lead the day-to-day operations at Maywood, among other responsibilities to support school staff and ensure student success. 

 “My career began as a special education teacher, where I discovered my passion for ensuring every student has access to meaningful learning opportunities,” she said. “I look forward to collaborating with staff, learning from their expertise, and working together to continue the excellent work happening at Maywood.” 

Bronner assumed her new position on Jan 20, succeeding Kristen Roys who is now deputy director of the division. With more than 16 years of experience in education, Bronner has worked across diverse settings—from urban to suburban to rural school districts in both New York and Hawaii.

She earned her B.A. of Arts in History at SUNY Albany and her Master of Education with a dual certification in Elementary Special Education at The College of St. Rose.
