| Description | Job Summary: The Manager, Quality Engineering leads the Quality function to ensure products, components, and manufacturing processes consistently meet customer requirement and industry standards. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Quality Management System (QMS), driving ISO 9001 compliance, and implementing practical, data-driven improvements across manufacturing operations. The Manager will lead a team of Quality Assurance Technicians and a Manufacturing Quality Engineer partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, and executive leadership to ensure highquality production and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities • Lead, coach, and develop the Quality team, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and fostering growth. • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to define quality requirements for products and processes. • Drive defect prevention initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the organization. • Assist in the development of quality management system (QMS) and ISO 9001 registration processes. • Support and lead internal and external audits, including ISO 9001 registration and surveillance audits. • Ensure quality procedures are documented, current and consistently followed. • Oversee corrective and preventive action process (CAPA), including root cause analysis and verification of effectiveness. • Investigate customer complaints and lead resolution through root cause analysis and corrective action plans. • Monitor and report on Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), including scrap, rework, and warranty trends. • Collaborate with Purchasing to monitor supplier quality and support strategic supplier initiatives. • Create, develop, and maintain processesfor customer acceptance and inspection, ensuring completeness and readiness for factory acceptance testing. • Travel as required to strategic vendors, customers, and benchmark target companies. • Develop, track, and report key quality performance metrics to drive informed decisions. • Analyze and interpret quality and process data to support corrective actions, preventive actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Support lean manufacturing initiatives and lead improvement projects that enhance quality and efficiency. Education and Skills: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience). • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in capital equipment, heavy industrial, or rail-related industries. • Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems. • Prior experience managing or supervising quality personnel. • Strong root cause analysis, CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action), and problem-solving skills. • Working knowledge of measuring and inspection tools. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T. • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage all levels of the organization.
