Talent Acquisition & Retention Specialist (PERSONNEL ASSISTANT II)

Capital Region BOCES provides both educational programs and educational support services, to school districts locally and statewide.  We are preparing students & educators for success, and we also employ hundreds of professionals who support that mission through their concentrated services.  This includes a team of Human Resources professionals who support our divisions and employees. What you will do:

As the Talent Acquisition & Retention Specialist, you will be our organization’s primary contact during the recruitment process for both candidates and managers. You will play an integral role as managers recruit to fill their various open positions.  Day to day, you can expect the following:

  • Your day will be busy supporting our divisions by understanding their recruitment needs and working to identify qualified applicants for their review.
  • You will communicate with candidates via phone and email to respond to questions, promote employment opportunities and conduct employment offers.
  • You will use your analytical skills to review the qualifications of applicants, ensuring managers receive a high quality candidate pool that meet the required qualification criteria set forth by either our local civil service commission or the NYS Department of Education.
  • You will be the subject matter expert for hiring managers, working directly with them as they utilize our ATS and execute defined recruitment processes to satisfy their staffing needs in the most effective and efficient way possible.
  • You’ll develop and apply organizational tracking skills to ensure compliance on various employment conditions such as mandated training completions, certification requirements and issuances.
  • You will represent Capital Region BOCES at public recruitment events, driving candidates to our job postings and promoting the value of employment with our organization.
  • You will work as part of a collaborative team and gain exposure to all other areas of human resources as it relates to school district operations and public sector ‘s

What you bring to our team:

  • College Degree with 1 to 3 years of experience conducting HR functions such as recruitment, benefits administration, workers compensation, employee onboarding or staff training & development. Candidates without a degree and at least 5 years’ experience as also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication & organizational skills with ability to clearly convey detailed information.
  • Keen analytical skills and ability to problem solve.
  • Any experience working with school district operations and with educational professionals is ideal but not required
  • Passion to help others, great customer service skills and a personal drive for continuous development of your skills and your team
