Emergency Medical Technician

Albany and Schoharie campuses

Learn how to save a life with this new program at
Capital Region BOCES.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a one-year
course that prepares students to respond
confidently and effectively in emergency medical
situations. This hands-on, fast-paced program
combines classroom instruction, laboratory skill
practice, and real-world scenarios to develop the
knowledge and competencies required for prehospital
emergency care.

Students learn to assess, treat, and transport patients
experiencing medical and traumatic emergencies
while emphasizing teamwork, safety, communication,
and professionalism. The course aligns with New York
State Department of Health standards, and upon
successful completion, students are eligible to take
the New York State Department of Health EMT-Basic
(EMT-B) Certification Exam.
