New Courses For Adult Learners Beginning September 2021

Welding and Metal Fabrication
3 – 7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays weekly September 2021 through June 2022
Adult Welding and Metal Fabrication students learn the skills and techniques necessary for success in a career that values well-trained, experienced workers. Training in shielded metal arc, gas tungsten arc (TIG), gas metal arc (MIG) welding and much more is provided in a state-of-the-art lab. During the 500-hour program, students can earn several certifications, including the New York State Department of Transportation welding certification.
Heating, Ventilation Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
3:30 – 7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays weekly September 2021 through June 2022
The 500-hour Heating, Ventilation Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) course is taught in a state-of-the art classroom and lab. Students learn about heating, ventilation, piping, refrigerants and refrigeration, furnaces and boilers. Learners can also earn the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 Certification and the Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) Certification.
3 – 6 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays weekly September through December 2021
The 150-hour Residential Electrical course is offered in the fall and can be taken along with a 150-hour Commercial Electrical course that is offered in the spring. Taught by experienced electricians, the course provides adults with fundamental skills and training in:
- Residential electrical safety and theory
- Residential construction codes
- Low-voltage wiring
- Switches and controls
Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour Safety Course Certification.
All classes will be held at the Career and Technical School Campus Albany Campus, which is located at 1015 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12205.
