Police Respond to Alarm at Administrative Offices – Jan. 30

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, school officials conducted a scheduled drill of the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School Albany Campus emergency broadcast system.

When the drill was initiated, it activated the alarm at the Capital Region BOCES’ administrative office building, located at 900 Watervliet-Shaker Road. An internal paging system alerted staff in the building to a critical incident on-site. Building staff followed the building’s emergency response protocols, which involves immediate evacuation or finding a safe location to hide.

Colonie Police promptly responded and arrived at the 900 building where they spent approximately one and a half hours responding to the call and clearing the building for re-entry. Members of Capital Region BOCES’
Emergency Response Team were available to assist local police as directed.

Please note that at no time was anyone in danger, and there are no students on-site at the 900 Watervliet-Shaker Road offices.

We appreciate the Colonie Police for their assistance and support throughout the incident.
