Adult Education (Continuing) - Culinary Arts Instructor
Career & Technical Education - Albany Campus (2-3 afternoons/nights per week @3-4 hours per day)
To instruct students in the proper practices, procedures and skills associated with the Culinary, Hospitality and Food Service industry. To provide entry level skills allowing students to enter the job market that pays them a living wage; or to continue their education at the post-secondary level. To be involved in developing partnership programs with local colleges and universities.
A. Should meet NYS Teaching Certification requirements in Food Trades or able to meet requirements.
B. Related experience in culinary, hospitality and/or food service industry.
C. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide sound instruction, ability to work in a team environment, work collaboratively with staff and administration.
D. Must possess good written and verbal skills.
1. To teach and develop curricula as part of a team in collaboration with the entire culinary staff.
2. Provide students with the requisite trade skills and the integrated academic skills necessary to meet NYS standards and pass the mandated licensing examination.
3. Secure a job in a field related to their studies that pays a living wage or enable students to continue their education.
4. To strive to instill in all students safe work habits, the importance of lifelong learning and a work ethic that fosters reliability, competence and satisfaction with one’s own work.
