Adult Education (Continuing) - Building Trades Instructor
Career & Technical Education - Albany Campus (2-3 nights per week @3-4 hours per night)
To instruct students in the proper practices, procedures and skills associated with the Building Trades industry. To provide entry level skills allowing students to enter the job market or to continue their education at the post-secondary level. To be involved in developing partnership programs with local colleges and universities.
A. Should meet NYS teaching certification requirements in Building Trades or able to meet requirements.
B. Related experience in carpentry and construction work
C. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide sound instruction, ability to work in a team environment, work collaboratively with staff and administration.
D. Must possess good written and verbal skills.
1. To develop in each student an awareness and understanding coupled with the skills and knowledge in the building trades industry to meet NYS requirements for certification.
2. To be responsible for developing and evaluating course plans.
3. Secure a job in a field related to their studies that pays a living wage or enable students to continue their education.
4. To strive to instill in each student safe work habits, the importance of lifelong learning, and a work ethic that fosters reliability, competence and satisfaction with one’s own work.
