Position:
Summer School Teaching Assistants (15 positions contingent on enrollment)
Location:
Special Education – Airline Drive Academy or Maywood Academy
Basic Function:
Enforcement of previously introduced skills and implementation of daily classroom routines.
Qualifications:
A. The selected applicant must hold valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification.
B. Experience with students who are disabled and in need of behavior management.
Responsibilities:
1. To carry out the organization of instructional materials and learning centers as planned and directed by the classroom teacher.
2. To monitor and reinforce skills and concepts previously taught by the teacher in individual or small group learning situations within the educational environment and under the supervision and control of the classroom teacher.
3. Sign language skills required for some classrooms.
Start Date:
July 8, 2024 – August 16, 2024 (Monday thru Friday @ 6 hours each day)
Application Deadline:
June 14, 2024 (or until all positions are filled)
Starting Salary:
$18.36 per hour
The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
