Classes taught at CTE: Integrated Science: HVAC, Nursing Assistant, Culinary Arts, Welding and Diesel programs. I also teach HSE/TASC preparation classes in the Adult Education Division.

Experience: Worked 10 years in biomedical science research; served five years in U.S. Navy in the Medical Service Corps as an assistant professor of chemistry at the U.S. Naval Academy. Also taught Regents science at St. Anne Institute in Albany for five years. Currently engaged in independent science research.

Professional certifications and licenses: I have a bachelors degree in biochemistry, a Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology and a masters degree in teaching and learning. I have permanent teaching certificates in biology and chemistry from the New York State Education Department.

How many years have you taught at CTE? 12 years (as of 9/01/17).

What do you enjoy about teaching? Seeing that moment when the student realizes that "Yes, I can learn science! And it makes sense!" Also seeing them realize that learning is a needed life skill that will continue throughout their lives. Teaching at CTE is also fun in that I get to learn about the programs for which I teach integrated science

What community organizations do you below to or volunteer with? Girl Scouts as a leader from 2001 through 2014.
