You could say Alexis Grier has a sweet future.

The Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School (CTE) senior from Duanesburg has set
her sights on a career as a baker, a plan that took shape because of her time at CTE.

“I had an idea of what I wanted to do when I came here but my time here has cemented it,” she said.

To further her goals, she will attend SUNY Alfred in the fall seeking two degrees — a two-year baking degree and a four-year business management degree.

“I want to open my own bakery and I think it’s important to get a business degree so that I know how to do that right,” Grier said. “Going to CTE has given me the real-life experience I need to know what I want to do and the ability to do it.”
