Name: Elison Foronda

Home district: Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk

CTE program: AYES

He was part of a two-person team that represented New York state and Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School (CTE) at a national automotive competition this year, bringing the school its highest finish in the competition in several years. Despite that, 2017 CTE graduate Eliason Feronda still remains firmly grounded.

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District graduate said in the days before leaving CTE that he plans to pursue automotive technology at Hudson Valley Community College and then follow that with a career in the industry.

The quiet student said his experiences, along with those of Vincent Degni of Shenendehowa, at
the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City in April was the bright spot of his CTE career.

"Competing in the national automotive contest was my favorite time at CTE. It was a great experience," Foronda said.

Of his time at CTE, Foronda said it helped cement for him what he wants to do in life.

"Going to CTE has helped me learn a lot about the industry and reaffirmed for me that this is what I want to do," Foronda said.

He credits CTE's teachers and the hands-on style of learning with making learning enjoyable for him.

"I had some of the best teachers I've ever had and the most fun learning at CTE," Foronda said.
