2016 CTE graduate will compete for national collegiate culinary championship

Scotia-Glenville graduate part of SUNY Delhi team that won Northeast regionals

Yezzo competes for DelhiA 2016 graduate of the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School will compete in the American Culinary Federation (ACF) National Championship this year as part of the SUNY Delhi Hot Food Team.

Carly Yezzo, who attended CTE from the Scotia-Glenville Central School District, is one of five on the competition team. Fellow 2016 CTE graduate Jessica Shultis is one of three apprentices to the team.

In early March, the SUNY Delhi team won the (ACF) 2017 Northeast Region Student Team Championship, defeating other top-ranked culinary programs from across the region.

At the July 9-13 nationals in Disney World in Florida, Yezzo and her teammates will take on the winners of the three other ACF regional competitions.

"This was a tremendous victory and validates the hundreds of hours of preparation the students and their coaches have invested in reaching this milestone," said SUNY Delhi Dean of Business and Hospitality Management Dr. David Brower said in a prepared statement. "This is our most diverse hot food team. Age, gender, race, cultural background — none of these things are stumbling blocks when they are in the kitchen. They understand the value of working as one."

Yezzo said last year that she is planning a future as a chef and a restaurant owner.
