Schoharie CTE honors its seniors

Packed house present for annual awards ceremony

 

Fifty-eight Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical (CTE) School students from the Schoharie campus received certificates of completion, honors and awards during a June 7 ceremony.Outstanding student winners

The ceremony at Cobleskill-Richmondville High School marked the completion of one- and two-year programs at the school, including culinary, cosmetology, commercial construction/heavy equipment, criminal justice, residential construction and automotive technology.

During the 90-minute ceremony, dozens of awards were bestowed on students. They are as follows:

  • Outstanding Student of the Year Award: Gene Broadwell and Ian Manson, both from the Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District (CRCS). Broadwell attended the heavy equipment/commercial construction program and Manson attended the automotive technology program.
  • Outstanding Career Portfolio Award: Gene Broadwell.
  • The Walter Voeks Memorial Scholarship: Lane Bartlett from Middleburgh Central School District, Ian Manson from CRCS, Casey Weis from the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School District (BKW) and Dan Ouellette from the Sharon Springs schools. All students were in the automotive program.
  • Construction/Heavy Equipment Advisory Board Scholarship: Gene Broadwell and Noah Sherwood from the Middleburgh Central School District. Sherwood attended the heavy equipment/commercial construction program.
  • Joseph N. Fuchs Award: Matthew Stansfield from the Berne-Knox-Westerlo (BKW) Central School District, who attended the criminal justice program.
  • Richard A. Conklin Scholarship Award: Noah Sherwood.
  • Schoharie Valley Region Antique Automotive Car Association Scholarships: Ian Manson and Casey Weis.
  • American Red Cross Scholarship Award: Dakota Lathers from Schoharie. She attended the cosmetology program.
  • Bryant and Stratton Scholarship: Dakota Lathers and William Fontanet from CRCS who attended the criminal justice program.
  • Schoharie County Counselors' Scholarship: Sarah Barton from Sharon Springs, who attended the criminal justice program and Jordan Miller from Middleburgh, who attended the culinary program.

  • Outstanding Student Award: Irving Skowfoe from Middleburgh.
  • Growth in Achievement Award: Gene Broadwell and Noah Sherwood.

 

Culinary Program

  • Outstanding Student Award: Brianna Zabrisky from Sharon Springs.
  • Growth in Achievement Award: Trinity Patterson from Middleburgh.
  • Highest Average Award: Dylan Cousineau from Sharon Springs.

 

Criminal Justice Program

  • Outstanding Student Award: Kathryn Dobesh from Middleburgh.
  • Growth in Achievement Award: William Fontanet from CRCS.
  • Highest Average Award: Sarah Barton from Sharon Springs.Noah Sherwood and Gene Broadwell receive construction scholarships

 

Cosmetology

  • Outstanding Student Award: Seneca Rehberg from CRCS.
  • Growth in Achievement Award: Abeline Smigel from Middleburgh.
  • Highest Average Award: Alexandra Guidarelli Borst from Schalmont.

 

Automotive Technology

  • Outstanding Student Award: Ian Manson.
  • Growth in Achievement Award: Lane Bartlett.
  • Highest Average Award: Ian Manson.
