Students lit up the room literally and figuratively on April 5 at the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School (CTE) Albany campus. They also cleaned, gamed and spoke eloquently about their career aspirations and life passions.

More than two dozen CTE students took part in the second annual CTE's Got Talent, a showcase of the professional skills students are honing on the Albany, Schoharie and Rotterdam campuses.

Skills ranging from running light fixture circuits, creating dresses out of a combination of cloth and flowers, designing video games, creating makeup special effects and even feeding and cleaning the teeth of elderly patients were on display.

Students explained the techniques they have learned at CTE, answered questions and demonstrated their skills as attendees ranging from school district administrators to friends, parents and area school board members stopped by the booths.

"This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to demonstrate their skills and showcase
how they are being prepared for careers after school," said Chuck Paravella, Capital
Region BOCES CTE assistant principal. "Everyone had a good time and the attendees learned
a lot about what we have to offer here."Nurse assistant
