Buy your holiday plants at Career and Tech and help students learn

CTE floral shop allows students to practice their skills while making festive arrangements


Students make wreathsThe holidays are a festive time for students in the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School (CTE) floral design program with business budding in the programs floral shop — Bloomers.

With a staff of about a dozen students, the floral program is selling everything from arrangements to wreaths and poinsettias.

"We are very busy. Its good, because it gives the students a taste of real life," said teacher Margaret Bugler.

Below is a list of the arrangements available:

  • The Tradition: Two candles, with holiday greens and ornaments and ribbons (no flowers) for
  • Traditional Redux: Two candles, with holiday greens, ornaments and flowers for $26.50.
  • Elegance: One candle in a smaller round container with holiday greens, flowers and ornaments for $20.
  • Candle Ring: A circular arrangement of holiday greens and flowers surrounding either a red or white pillar candle for $20.
  • Sleigh: Santa's Favorite. A sleigh filled with flowers, presents, and Santa. A Holiday favorite for $20.
  • The present: A glass cube tied with ribbon, and filled with holiday flowers and greens for $20.
  • Christmas forest: A snowy rustic basket, sprinkled with snow and, filled with flowers, holiday greens, and pine cones for $18.50
  • Christmas topiary: A holiday container lined with green trick carnations and white carnations, with white alstromeria standing in the center for
  • Snow ball: An all-white arrangement that looks as if it came out of a blizzard for $22.
  • The cherub: A white cherub surrounded by winter greens and flowers for $25.

The Capital Region BOCES CTE students say they love the experience the work gives them.
