Calendar of Events

April Through June: Citizenship Prep Classes — If you are an intermediate- to high-level English speaker and you are looking to prepare for the Citizenship exam, then you have a couple of options:

  • Literacy New York Greater Capital Region will have a Citizenship class at the Albany Public Library on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. at the Albany Public Library (Washington Ave. Branch) starting on April 6. To sign up, please email OR call (518) 631-2926.
  • USCRI will have University at Albany tutors who will help prepare you for the exam. You can meet with them in the afternoons and evenings on weekdays. To sign up, please email oR call (518) 459-1790.

April 7: EPA Lead RRP Initial Training — Learn how to prevent lead contamination while renovating, making repairs, or painting homes, child care facilities, and schools. Upon successful completion of the one-day course, including passing an exam at the end of the class, participants become EPA certified renovators. Breakfast and a light lunch are provided. This course is offered at Bennett Contracting at 693 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202 from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. April 8: Hiking and Backpacking Workshop – Join Dave Muska (New York State Licensed Guide) of Ondatra Adventures for this interactive workshop as he shares his experience and offers his knowledge to make your hikes and backpacking adventures even more fun, safe, and enjoyable. April 12: HSE Health Literacy Workshop – “Talking With Your Doctor” – The Albany Medical College and The Center for Law and Justice are hosting a free interactive workshop on how to be an advocate for yourself or for a loved one. This is geared toward the High School Equivalency (HSE) students. The event will be from 3-5PM at the Capital South Campus Center at 20 Warren Street, Albany, NY 12202 in room 302B.

April 19: ENL Health Literacy Workshop – “Talking With Your Doctor” – If you are an English as a New Language (ENL) student and you are interested in attending this workshop, please contact Maria Huntington at: (518) 694-4567.

Taxes are DUE on April 18th: Get FREE Tax Preparation until April 13 for families and people with an annual income below $54,000, you will receive: IRS-certified preparers, free e-filing, savings bond option, and access to multiple sites with convenient hours. Free tutoring is available at the Capital South Campus Center at 20 Warren Street, Albany, NY 12202. There are math tutors there on Mondays from 4-7 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

English Spoken Here
Trained literacy volunteers run a drop-in English conversational skills class at the Delaware Library (331 Delaware Ave., Albany, NY 12209) on Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call: 518-463-0254, extension 223.

Center for Law and Justice Thursday Service Day
This will take place EVERY Thursday at 220 Green Street, Albany, NY 12202. Community members will have free access to health insurance navigators, health and finance information, resource referrals, and legal advice. To make an appointment, call: 518-427-8361.

Art Class
For anyone age 8 and up! 15 Trinity Place in Albany has an art class that meets every Saturday from 11 a.m. to  1 p.m. Call 518-449-5155 for more information.

Bike Repair

Computer Help

Food Pantry
For those in dire need of food call the Trinity Center: 518-449-5155 or the Arbor Hill Center: 518-463-1516 (you have to provide a photo ID and piece of mail or lease arrangement to prove an area address).

Greg’s Adult Gym

Kadoshin Karate

Sewing, Knitting, and Crocheting Circle encourages everyone to attend and learn – all materials are supplied for free by Trinity and finished products are donated to families in need. RCHPP Quick Help:
The Refugee Community Health Partnership Program helps refugees with translations and assisting with forms - the quick help sessions also teach refugees different skills and encourage them in the garden to help generate produce for themselves and the community.
