A letter to prospective adult nursing students

Dear prospective nursing student:

Thank you for your interest in the Practical Nursing Program. We are pleased to offer an optional, free two-hour class which will help you prepare to take the pre-entrance exam. Topics covered in the test-prep class will include test-taking strategies, basic math and science review, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Enclosed is a list of dates and times when the class will be offered. There is no charge to attend the class. I hope you are able to take advantage of this opportunity.

If you have prior college credits, they may be able to transfer into the practical nurse program. Please contact our office to schedule a review of credits.

In addition, the dates and times of the pre-entrance exam (required of all applicants) and sample test questions, which will familiarize you with the test format, are enclosed. There is a fee of $65.00 (cash only) for the exam. In order to take the exam you must bring these items on your scheduled exam date:

  • $65 cash fee

  • ATI Paper/pencil ID (see ATI Instruction sheet enclosed)

  • Picture ID

  • Two #2 pencils

All interested candidates are required to call the Health Careers Center at (518) 862-4709 to register for the test-prep class and/or Entrance Exam

Test results are sent to our school 2-3 days after the test. Applicants who pass the exam will be sent an application packet. Those who do not pass will receive information on remediation opportunities.

If you have any questions about the prep classes, entrance exam, or transfer credit approval please feel free to call the Health Careers Center at (518) 862-4709.

I wish you success on the test and look forward to meeting you soon.

Sincerely,
